The data were correlated with the results of the structural analysis. DHC(S) and DHC(E) correlated most closely with the enamel microhardness. Two distinct zones, in different relation to the three-dimensional structure of the enamel, were recognised. This study shows that enamel microhardness is associated with different parameters in different zones of the enamel.
